I recently binged the manga and hoo boy, it's an absolute clusterfuck (intentional by the author of course) of love triangles, betrayals, gaslighting and stuff.

Hime and Yano go into a huge fight arc and it's a mess but their interaction after that are so much sweeter (and gay af)

What I like about the story is everyone gets a shine for better or worse. Mostly worse. I hope this really gets a 2nd season. A lot of people just dismiss this as that niche yuri show but the author has really done a great job of deconstructing conventional tropes and making a frustrating but hard to put down story

As I've said before, there's never a development that's only blissful bonding, there's always a caveat which leads to future melodrama.
Also, someone very important to Sumika has been there all along.

Nope. After Hime and Yano's huge fight when Yano ends up confessing she's in love with her, they start to grow closer and Hime gets confused about her feelings for Yano. Kanoko notices the change in Hime, becomes more paranoid, at the same time Sumika falls in love with Kanoko after becoming her Hime love confidant. Someone (I won't say who) tells Kanoko to fake confess to Sumika to be her girlfriend so she can maintain the status quo and both of them get more desperate about their relationship.

The manga is currently under that plot but I skimmed over a lot more events and betrayals.

The typical miscommunication, prudishness & naivety cliches are on full display here.
My disdain for these has been escalating for several years now.

Hey at least it's not Gamers where they have to dumb down characters to infantile levels to make the miscommunications work.

Datsudoutei no Aite wa... masaka no Aitsu!? p0rnga has similar annoying formula but there's actually significant payoff in between every contrived melodramatic situation.

I'm not feeling WataYuri though, I would've preferred actual couplings & witty banter, not repeated trainwrecks making things drag-on.
This series has inadequate pay-offs.
The most recent love polygon in the manga is so absurd.

I disdain when gags rely on blatant idiocy.

Like I said before... this manga has a compelling story and I can't wait for the next chapters... even if the characters are not that likeable... you just wanna see what happens to them next.

I think they're all likable except Kanako and a certain new character. Yano is just dense, Hime lies but she always does things she thinks is for her real friends' benefit, baby boss is just a baby that runs things, and Sumika is one of the purest gyaru. Kanako is creepy, pig headed and often mean and the new character only wants women and to watch the world burn.

It's like a train wreck you can't take your eyes off of.

As another Manga reader here I wanna second that sentiment. Really hope this gets a second season as the author has done an amazing job weaving in the romance, betrayals, gaslighting, miscommunications and some great character development with the standard yuri bait.

How far do you go? I passed the Kanoko - Sumika become Schwestern Arc. After that, precisely ten months ago, i stopped reading the manga, because that was the time this Anime trailer got aired.

So for ten months, i waited patiently for the Anime to be aired first, before continue reading the Manga.

Caught up on the latest chapter although I'm just stacking any new releases for a longer read.

Neat! I'll make sure to catch up with the rest of the chapters in the Manga, Once i finished watching the Anime (I have an idea about where and what Arc the anime gonna ending with.
